Share your bike ride: an image in three warm styles and a story ready in one tap
The ride is over and you want to show it. Until now, VéloCore's share image did the job without telling the story: a map, a banner, six numbers, all a little cold. Since version 1.3.3 of the iPhone app, on the App Store since October 2, sharing your bike ride takes a single tap: an image in three warm styles, as a post or a story, and a story already composed and waiting at the finish. For free.
Share your bike ride: what changes with version 1.3.3
Two new features share the work: the image for social networks, fully redesigned with three styles, two formats and a preview that is exactly the image you send; and the “Your story is ready” card on the end-of-ride summary, with the story already made. Sending is also more reliable.
These features are in the iPhone app; on Android, the story composer and sharing from the history are there, but not the three-style image yet. The full tour of the app is on the features page.
A bike ride image in three warm styles
All three styles share one layout. At the top: the village or neighborhood where you started, the date and the time of day, such as “Sunday, October 4 · Morning ride”. At the bottom: the distance in large type, the elevation profile and four numbers: duration, average moving speed, elevation gain and top speed. Missing values are left out, never shown as zero.
The default style: the map turns brown, sand and cream under a sun halo, and the thick route runs from gold to coral.
The same map as a brown night, never bluish, with a neon route sliding from gold to pink.
No map: a sunset gradient of peach, coral and plum, a sun and a light grain. Only the shape of your ride stands out.
Post 4:5 (1080 × 1350) for a feed, Story 9:16 (1080 × 1920) that keeps clear the strips covered by story buttons.
The preview is the exported image, pixel for pixel. Your last style is remembered. Offline, when the map cannot load, the image switches to the Poster background: never a broken image.
How to share your bike ride as an image, step by step
- Open the image. At the end of a ride, tap “Share” on the summary. For an older ride, open it in your history, tap “Share”, then “Image for social networks” or “Story format image (9:16)”.
- Pick the format. “Post 4:5” for a feed, “Story 9:16” for a story elsewhere.
- Pick the style. Swipe the preview or tap Golden hour, Warm night or Poster. Poster appears at once, the map styles as soon as the map is ready.
- Share or save. “Share” opens the iPhone share sheet with a JPEG file and copies a caption with your numbers, to paste if the app you pick ignores attached text. “Save” puts the image in Photos.
Bike ride story: “Your story is ready” the moment you stop
Until now, the story of the ride you had just finished was the hardest one to make. Now, under the stats on the summary, the “Your story is ready” card shows several layouts already built from your ride: The number, The route, The effort and The journal. The win comes first when the ride has one, followed by the template you picked last time.
One tap on “Post my story” and it is live, visible for 24 hours to the VéloCore community. “Edit” opens the editor with that template, to add a photo, some text or a sticker. The title you give the ride on the summary becomes the title of The journal. The card appears from 500 meters, and posting a story requires a free account. For a story on another network, use the 9:16 image.
Your wins in the spotlight, with nothing made up
A ride is easier to share when it tells a story, so VéloCore now spots small wins, announces them at the top of the card and gives them their own template, The win:
- your first recorded ride;
- a distance record, or a climbing record from 100 m of elevation gain, once two rides are behind you;
- a total distance milestone: 500, 1,000 or 2,500 km, and so on;
- the longest ride of the month, or a monthly milestone (100, 200, 300 km and beyond);
- a streak of weeks in a row with at least one ride, from two weeks.
Every win comes only from your recorded rides, to a tenth of a kilometer, just as on screen. A ride under one kilometer has none.
Reliable posting, even when the network fades
Story sending has been reworked so the outcome stays clear, even with one bar of signal:
- No network when you post: nothing goes out, the story is kept and the app asks you to try again later.
- Network drops while sending: after 30 seconds without progress, the upload stops cleanly and nothing is half-posted; a new attempt does not create a duplicate.
- Slow confirmation: the story waits in the queue and goes out on its own when the network returns.
- App closed right after posting: sending carries on briefly in the background.
And a composition left in the editor is no longer lost: the “Resume your draft” card reopens it.
Our tips for sharing your bike ride in style
- Pick the format for the destination. 4:5 for a feed, 9:16 for a story.
- Think about what the image shows. It shows the village or neighborhood where you started, and your route. Leaving from home? Poster keeps only the shape of the ride, without the surrounding streets.
- Post to the wall too. “Post to the wall” shares the ride and its route in VéloCore's public feed, from 500 meters.
- Plan a beautiful route. A great image starts with a great ride: the web planner draws loops for free and, with an account, “Lancer ce trajet” (start this ride) sends the route to the app.
Frequently asked questions about sharing a bike ride
Is sharing your bike ride with VéloCore free?
Yes. The three-style image, the “Your story is ready” card, posting a story and posting to the wall require no subscription. The app is free on iPhone and Android; Premium adds detailed analysis, FIT and TCX exports and unlimited routes, among other things, with a 14-day trial.
How do I post my bike ride story on another network?
Open the image for social networks, pick the “Story 9:16” format and tap “Share”: a JPEG file goes to the iPhone share sheet and a caption with your numbers is copied. The “Post my story” button on the summary posts inside VéloCore instead, for 24 hours.
What happens if I have no network at the end of a ride?
The image is made on the phone: without a map, it takes the Poster background and can still be shared or saved to Photos. A story does not go out without a network and is kept. If sending is interrupted, nothing is half-posted, and a story sent but not yet confirmed goes out once you are back online.
Share your next ride in a single tap
VéloCore is free. The three-style image and “Your story is ready” are waiting for you in version 1.3.3 on iPhone, and the web planner prepares the loop that will make a beautiful image.
